All these questions, and many others, find their answers in the Maison du Marais Poitevin thanks to the exhibition "Le Marais, how does it work? At the projection of the Maraiscope and the visit rooms.
How is the visit:
A facilitator introduces you to the territory and its landscapes, then you discover how the man lived in the marsh thanks to the exhibition halls (the construction of a boat, the fishing of the eel, the reconstitution of a maraîchin interior of the 19th century).
The animator will meet you for the projection of the Maraiscope (the whole history of the Marais on a giant model) and answer your questions.
On leaving, the shop offers books, handicrafts and regional products, souvenirs ...
On reservation, visit group guided and educational animations all the year.

Comment est né le Marais poitevin ? Est-ce que c'est vrai qu'il y avait la mer avant ? Comment les canaux ont été creusés ? Et par qui ? Aujourd'hui, quels animaux et quelles espèces peut-on observer ? Est-ce qu'il y a toujours de l'eau ? Toutes ces questions, et bien d'autres, trouvent leurs réponses dans la Maison du Marais poitevin grâce à l’exposition « Le Marais, comment ça marche ? », à la projection du Maraiscope et aux salles de visites.
Comment se déroule la visite :
Un animateur vous présente le territoire et ses paysages, puis vous découvrez comment l'homme vivait dans le marais grâce aux salles d'exposition (la construction d'une barque, la pêche de l'anguille, la reconstitution d'un intérieur maraîchin du XIXè s.).
L’animateur vous retrouve pour la projection du Maraiscope (toute l'histoire du Marais sur une maquette géante) et répond à vos questions.
En sortant, la boutique propose des livres, produits artisanaux et régionaux, souvenirs...
Sur réservation, visite groupe guidée et animations pédagogiques toute l'année.
