When I saw that there was a military museum not too far from our home, I was more than a little suprised. So, we hopped in the car and headed to little Mohnton, PA, to discover an absolutely wonderful little museum, full of so many artifacts that we could hardly see all of them. We were given an informative tour by our state representative who seems to be the person responsible for getting this museum up and running. He showed us the Vietnam section, the woman's military museum, the uniform room, and told us the story about nine local siblings who all served in WWII. Unfortunately, one of the brothers did not return home after the war. We were then invited to take our time and wander around the museum and seek him out with any questions.
Not only was the inside packed full of interesting exhibits but outside, there was a 9/11 memorial complete with a piece of Ground Zero and behind the museum is a brand new rose garden, dedicated to all the women who stepped up to work in factories during WWII while the men fought in the war. The garden is aptly name The Rosie the Riveter Memorial Garden.
Opening hours: Saturday 11-1
Open all year: Yes
