Pend Oreille County Historical Museum is one of the most interesting museums we have visited, including those that took all day to tour. The museum complex consists of the historic I. & W. N. Depot building built in 1908 which houses the gift shop and displays on the first and second floors. This Banjo Vacuum Cleaner is displayed on the second floor.
This a most interesting vacuum cleaner and the oldest we have seen. It is most likely manufactured around early to mid 1900s.
This is a two person operation vacuum cleaner, one operates the bellow, made of wood with leather bellows and the other does the cleaning. There is a dust/dirt collection bag attached to the handle.
If you are in the area, this is definitely a must visit. Since we were there last year the admission increased to $5.00, however it is still well worth every penny. This is unless you are Canadian then it is a nickle's worth as we do not use pennies any longer.
