Centennial Plaza is a display along Highway 81 that celebrates the State of Oklahoma's 100th anniversary, and also highlights the history of the area with several historical plaques. The plaza has a 12 ft. high stepped white granite block wall as a backdrop. At the center are the words: CENTENNIAL PLAZA".
The concrete patio in front of the wall has buffalo sculptures, and granite benches. A fountain flows down from the wall. The history of the town, and the Comanche tribe, as well as the Chisholm Trail are engraved in plaques attached to the wall. In front of this plaza area is a restoration of the Comanche Oilfield's Discover Well, the #1 Clara Wilson, which came in on August 29, 1918. The display includes the original pumping unit.
A marble plaque mounted on the wall reads:
The Centennial Plaza This plaza, built in 2007, is Comanche participation, the recognition of the first 100 years of Oklahoma statehoodLocated at the gateway to Comanche, the plaza celebrates the historic past and a commitment to the future of our community
