High School Campus - Comanche, OK - WPA Projects on Waymarking.com

The buildings that made up this campus are difficult to differentiate at this point, as some are completely demolished and the others in ruins. The building which appears to have been known as the "high school" is gone now. It was located on Ash and 4th Streets. It is shown as having been built by the WPA in 1938, according to the listing in the Oklahoma Historical Society database. Their photos of the building taken in 1987 show the building already boarded up and not in use. It was a one-story brick building with a concrete foundation. Today there is only one partial wall, and an empty foundation area.

Another building stands on these grounds half of which is demolished. For purposes of this narrative we will refer to it as the cafeteria. It was a combination classroom/cafeteria building. The south half is intact, though in bad condition; the north half has been destroyed.
