Along Main Street in downtown Duncan, from W. 10th to W. 7th Street, the sidewalks on both sides of the street are stained a rust color, and segmented concrete inlays are displayed, showing the names of Duncan citizens, and local businesses, who have contributed to the costs of developing the downtown area, and other endeavors in Duncan. The coordinates above are taken at 835 W. Main. The paver displays are laid at alternating angles, as if some huge giant has walked the streets and left his footprints.
Duncan is the County Seat of Stephens County in southwestern Oklahoma, and has a population of about 23,000. Oil has been the chief economic mainstay for this city, and it is the home of Halliburton Industries. The city has many museums and heritage centers and prides itself in being an industrious and forward-moving town.
