V západní cásti pražského prírodního parku Šárka-Lysolaje, u odbocky žluté turistické trasy, se nachází Vaníckuv pomnícek. Na rozpadající se buližníkové mohyle je umístena pametní deska s nápisem „Zde zemrel sokolský písmák Karel Vanícek 24. cervna r. 1926“.
Karel Vanícek se narodil 10. 2. 1860. Byl clenem predsednictva Ceské obce sokolské, zakladatelem sokolského muzea a autorem knihy Sokolské epištoly. Vystudoval techniku a byl vrchním oficiálem na pražské pošte. Pricítá se mu také autorství sokolského slibu. Na jeho pocest nese jedna z ulic v pražské ctvrti Strahov jméno "Vaníckova".

In the western part of the Šárka-Lysolaje Nature Park in Prague, near to the yellow hiking trail, there is Vanicek's memorial. A commemorative plaque with the inscription "Here the sokol writer Karel Vanicek died on June 24, 1926" is placed on the rocky monument.
Karel Vanícek was born on February 10, 1860. He was a member of the Presidium of the Czech Sokol Society, the founder of the Sokol Museum and the author of the Sokol Epistol. He studied technique and was the chief official at the Prague Post Office. He is also credited with the authorship of the Sokol promise. In his honor one of the streets in Prague-Strahov district carries the name "Vanicek".
