This bronze Sundial is mounted on a sandstone pedestal, made of 10 sawn, and hewn square stone blocks of different sizes of sandstone. It is set in a sandstone paved area that had been a part of the St George's Churchyard Cemetery, which was removed 1964 to make way for the Rectory - per the plaque on the pedestal, which reads, as follows:

     This paved area and
   Sundial were erected to
  Commemorate the Cemetery
Located at the rear of the Church
till 1964 when the site was
      cleared to enable the
       Rectory to be built.
		Dedicated - October 13th 1963
			by
		   Canon R.F. Dillon

Around southern side of the Sundial surface are the minute adjustments to be made for various times of the year. Though it doesn't have anything to adjust for 'Daylight Saving Time'. This Sundial has been made for the southern hemisphere (no surprise there!) as evinced by the 'Southern Cross' cast into the surface. There is also the typical motto of sundials:
"Some tell of Storms and Showers
I tell of Sunny Hours"

Address: Corner of 2 The Avenue and Forest Road, Hurstville, NSW

Visited: 1632-3, Sunday, 21 January, 2018

Sundial Type: Horizontal - Flat base, Ground or Pedestal mounted dial plate
