[GER] Das Hulbe-Haus wurde 1910–1911 nach Entwurf des Hamburger Architekten Henry Grell (1870–1937) erbaut und ist nach seinem Bauherrn benannt, dem Buchbinder und Leder-Kunsthandwerker Georg Hulbe.
Hulbe ließ das Gebäude als Standort seines Kunsthandwerk-Geschäftes, direkt neben der St.-Petri-Kirche bauen.
In der Bebauung der Mönckebergstraße wollte er mit diesem Bau einen städtebaulichen Akzent zwischen den Kontorhäusern setzen.
Der Bau greift die architektonischen Formen der niederländischen Renaissance auf und somit auch die Tradition der nordischen Seestädte.
[ENG] The Hulbe House was built in 1910-1911 according to the design of the Hamburg architect Henry Grell (1870-1937) and is named after his builder, the bookbinder and leather craftsman Georg Hulbe.
Hulbe had the building built as the location of his handcraft shop, directly next to the St. Petri church.
In the development of Mönckebergstraße he wanted to set an urbanistic accent between the office buildings.
The building takes up the architectural forms of the Dutch Renaissance and thus also the tradition of the Nordic seaside towns.
