In der Folge eines Dammbruches der Lausitzer Neiße bei Briesnig im Kreis Forst am 6. Juli 1958 ergossen sich große Wassermassen über das Peitzer Lasszinswiesengebiet bis in den Spreewald hinein.

As a result of a dam failure of the Lusatian/Lausitzer Neisse at Briesnig in the district of Forst on 6 July 1958, large volumes of water poured over the Peitzer Lasszinswiesengebiet into the Spreewald into it.
