Mais que serait Ventabren, sans son moulin ?

Difficile de remonter le temps pour savoir depuis quand un moulin est implanté sur cette esplanade !
Jamais meunier n’a habité en ces lieux et produit farine…
Il s’agit d’un ‘moulin à eau’.
Le village de Ventabren a toujours connu des problèmes d’approvisionnement.
Cette éolienne actionnait une pompe permettant de monter l’eau du canal dans un réservoir situé en haut du village, de manière à en permettre la distribution par gravité.
L’arrivée de l’électricité dans la commune en 1924 a mis un terme au fonctionnement éolien du moulin, mais il gardé son utilité première.
Restauré, façon Daudet, en 1967, mais ne se visitant pas, il abrite toujours à l’intérieur un système de pompes hydrauliques, permettant l’approvisionnement en eau des réservoirs situés sur le plateau.
