Teracotta roundel plaque in this building on Church Street, Wymondham, celebrating the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria, 1887.

It is inscribed -
1887; Victoria 50 years Queen of Great Britain and Ireland; Empress of India; around edge: Canada, Australia,New Zealand, Burmah, Gibraltar, Malta; Africa, W. Indies

These terracotta roundels were first cast by Stanley Bros for Queen Victoria’s 1887 Golden Jubilee, and were quite popular across Britain, although quite rare nowadays (more common are the 1897 diamond jubilee plaques).

The plaque is set under a pediment frame. A profile portrait roundel showing Victoria as Empress of India is set within a frame commemorating her golden jubilee.
