How lively history can be in the present and everyday life is shown by the museum harbor in Leer. Against the picturesque backdrop of Libra, maritime treasures from earlier times are crowded on the waterfront. They do not hide behind glass, but can be admired at close range. All are still roadworthy and on individual you can also "hiring" for a small river cruise.
The museum harbor is operated and maintained by the Schipperklottje, a department of the Heimatverein Leer. Some boats belong to the Schipperklottje, such as the smallest functioning tug in Europe with only 6 m length, the "Keerlke". Other ships are guests - mostly permanent guests, who have found the perfect berth here.
The museum harbor is freely accessible throughout the year and easy to find, because it is located almost at the foot of the widely visible town hall tower directly behind the Libra. Whether you take a stroll through the streets of the old town or a walk along the waterfront, all roads lead to the museum harbor.
