At the entrance lobby of the planetarium in Stuttgart, Germany, Baden-Württemberg is a part of the so-called 'Gibeon-Meteorit' on a permanent display.
The Gibeon-Mateorit was an iron meteorit which first part of have been found in 1836 in southwest arica (today Namibia) nearby to the town Gibeon.
The meteorit has hit the earth about 13,000 to 30,000 years ago. The meteorit exploded into several thousand parts when it hit the earth's atmosphere.
The meteorit consists of 92% iron and 8% nickel.
The exhibited part of the meteorit weighs 7720 grams.
It can be visited during the opening hours of the planetariumm without any fee. You do not have to enter the planetarium itself!
