One of a few dedicated benches located in North Riverfront Park. The plaque on this bench reads:
March 22, 1958 — July 28, 2016
Lori Jeanne (Smith) Calderon, age 58, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 28, 2016, of natural causes.
She was raised in Southern California and moved to Montana before finally settling in Corvallis with her two children. When she moved to Oregon she met the true love of her life, Michael Calderon, and enjoyed a happy marriage of 26 years. Mike and Lori were a perfect match and built a wonderful life together.
Lori was a shining example of what a loving, giving and encouraging person can be. She was a thoughtful, loving wife, a caring, attentive mother, and a doting and patient grandmother.
Lori loved to be outdoors and cherished her time in the garden and attending to her numerous animals. She enjoyed travel and did so often with her family. Lori was to many a lending ear, a friendly hug, a bright smile and someone who always looked on the positive side of life, even when it was tough to do so.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Hazel; and brother Randy.
She is survived by many, including husband Mike; son Eric; daughter Shawna; sons-in-law Tim and Corey; grandchildren Noah, Cooper and Madison; siblings Carla, Clint and Anita; and many close friends and family.
Lori reminds us that life is short, and we have an opportunity to make our mark on this world through love, kindness and laughter. We will love her always and carry her memory in our hearts forever.
