Three-boat unit of the CCG Auxiliary, named QSAR, short for Quinte Search and Rescue. Main rescue boat is the 'Bruce R. Sutcliffe', a 29' purpose-built rescue vessel dedicated in honor of the late Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Sutcliffe, DSO of the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment. L/Col Sutcliffe was the WWII Commanding Officer of the Regiment when it landed in Sicily on July 10th 1943. He was killed by German artillery fire July 20th 1943, as he prepared the Regiment for the assault on the hill top village of Assoro.

There is a secondary rescue vessel, call-sign 'QSAR 2' It is an 18' Crestliner. A smaller 12' vessel (call-sign QSAR 3) can be towed for use in shallow waters or where the larger vessels would be impractical.

The unit traces its history to 1978, when a private citizen, Stu Meeks, started Lasalle Rescue. That unit stood down upon his death in 2002. In 2006, the present unit was reborn under the guidance and direction of several dedicated individuals, led by Howard Garrod.

The unit is tasked by nearby Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton (JRCC Trenton. Their main area of operations extends from the Murray Canal in the west, past the Deseronto bridge into Napanee in the east, and south into the waters of Prince Edward County.
