1018 kam Koblenz unter die Herrschaft der Erzbischöfe und späteren Kurfürsten von Trier, die (mit nur kurzen Unterbrechungen) in Koblenz ihre Münzen prägen ließen. Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts wurden die Gebäude der Münze abgerissen, auf dem freiwerdenden Platz - dem Münzplatz - erinnert der "Brunnen zur Stadtentwicklung" an die Münze und die Koblenzer Geschichte. In unmittelbarer Nähe wurde "1952 der frührömische Spitzgraben eines tiberischen Holz-Erde-Kastells entdeckt." (AD CONFLUENTES, siehe rechts die Tafel am Münzplatz)"
