Pioneer School Rock Gymnasium - Waukomis, OK - WPA Projects on Waymarking.com

This gymnasium is located six miles east of Highway 81 on E. Wood Road, east of the town of Waukomis. The gymnasium is still in use as part of the campus of the Pioneer-Pleasantvale School District.

Built in 1937 by the WPA, this is a native sandstone building with a front gabled roof. There are four arched window units. Each has a rounded stone lintel with keystone. The three toward the south have been infilled with concrete blocks, leaving the window panes and fanlight visible, but painted over. The unit on the north has been infilled with brick, and an entry door inserted. The gym is connected to the school building which stands to its south.
