Queluz Aqueduct starts near Belas and follows trough the fields untill it reaches a tank above Queluz National Palace.
Originally, it was built with the purpose of bring water to the palace and the nearby fountains.
Since the beginning of the XX century it supplied only the fountains. Maybe because of a large fire that happend in 1934.
Part of the aqueduct was obstructed and, instead of cleaning it, a pipe was added. Later, a second pipe was added to take the rain to the tank.
15 years ago, the local fountains were still getting water from the aqueduct, but not anymore.
The tank is abandoned and has been vandalized wich is a real shame. After all, this aqueduct supplied water to the nearby Queluz Palace wich is a National Monument.
