This area was originally settled in 1890 by Benjamin Hulbert who opened a store and grist mill nearby. Soon a settlement grew up around it, and in the early 20th century, the town was moved nearer to the railroad. A post office was established in 1903. The town was incorporated in 1965 and has a current population of 605.
The post office is a one-story brick building with a gabled roof. It is open Mon-Fri from 8:30-12:00 and 1:00-4:00, and is closed Saturday and Sunday.
