Two concentric rings hold Roman numerals for the hours. Unlike many other clocks there are two unusual aspects, firstly the use of IV instead of the more usual IIII for four o'clock, secondly the numbers from IV to VIII are all upright rather than with their bases towards the centre of the clock.
