The "Nepomuk" water pump is one of three remaining historic hand-operated water pumps made from stone in Roermond. It has been built in 1751 and was located in Steegstraat, corner Venlosepoort, about 400 meters north of its current position. In 1936/1937 it has been relocated here to the minster plaza (Munsterplein).
The pump consists of a stone column of about three meters height with ornamental decorations. At the side the large handle for pumping water is attached. At the front above the drain, a chronogram has been engraved reading the year of construction. At the backside, an additional stone has been embedded in the ground with information about the pump's name, built and relocation dates.
I was not able to determine, if the pump is still working, because the handle was locked at the time of my visit.
