Ridge to River is a six stage relay race that goes from the top of Mission Ridge and ends in Riverfront Park right here at the mural. This site gives some more info about the race itself: Linky
The race brings in people from all over the state, as well as some out of state in April every year. It's a fun time to get together and celebrate our wonderful recreational opportunities in the area.
This mural captures the six legs of the race: Downhill Skiing/Snowboarding, Cross Country Skiing, Running, Biking, Canoeing/Kayak, and Portage.
