This non-standard Howard Johnson's restaurant operated as a HoJo's from 1978 to the mid-1990s. The hotel operated until 2005, one of the last to be open in Ontario.

This webpage, (visit link) shows some of the advertising that the retaurant hotel used to circulate. The site also notes that Howard Johnson's operated one of their restaurants which included Whiskers Lounge ""Kingston's premier night spot". The restaurant's hospitality extended to the licensed lakeside outdoor swimming pool.

Today it is known as Confederation Place Hotel and it is still located on one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in Kingston.
