QE0616 - OSHD 'Q 103 279' BM - Philomath, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this Oregon State Highway Department benchmark from 1934 in good condition. It is a brass disk monumented on top of the first step to a former bank, now a wine tasting business. This disk is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 280' (under the name Philomath). My posted coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 IN PHILOMATH. LOCATED IN THE TOP OF THE EAST END OF THE FIRST CONCRETE STEP TO THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK AT PHILOMATH. THIS BANK IS AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF MAIN AND G STREETS.

IN PHILOMATH, AT THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN AND NORTH 13TH STREETS, IN THE EAST END OF THE FIRST STEP OF THE SOUTH ENTRANCE TO BILLIES CAFE, 15.4 M (50.5 FT) EAST OF THE CENTER OF NORTH 13TH STREET, 14.1 M (46.3 FT) NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF MAIN STREET, 1.0 M (3.3 FT) EAST OF THE CENTER OF THE ENTRANCE, AND 0.1 M (0.3 FT) WEST OF THE EAST END OF THE STEP. THE MARK IS 0.3 M ABOVE THE STREETS.
