Glen Clova, one of the Angus Glens, is a ten mile long U-shaped valley following the course of the River South Esk, that cuts into the Grampian Mountains in a north-westerly direction. The B955 road runs along most of its length up to the hamlet of Clova on either side of the river, the road splits six miles down the glen at Gella, and it is just a few yards past the junction on the western road that a small lay-by appears with this sign mounted on a wooden frame.
The map depicts the glen along with the neighbouring Glen Prosen to the west. Along with the map there is information on Glen Clova, wildlife, landscape & history, responsible land access, and the Minister's Path, a walk that connects Clova with Prosen.
The symbols on the map depict parking, information points, public conveniences, hotels, telephones, churches, and fishing. The actual Gella Bridge, now demolished and replaced with a new bridge, is on the eastern road a few hundred yards away.
