Kinchela Creek - 1984 - Gladstone, NSW, Australia - Bridge Date Stones and Plaques on Waymarking.com

Running either side of the Macleay River are two roads; with the eastern one being the South West Rock Road, that goes over the side arm of Kinchela Creek - where you are now. This bridge has been built to avoid being flooded, as no doubt the earlier bridge would have been flooded.

The concrete deck of the bridge is supported by SEVEN reinforced concrete I-Beams that rest atop four concrete pylon sets, with five spans in total. There is a substantial metal guard rail along both sides, with a specific footpath, on the eastern side of the bridge.

Just to the left of the southern 'DMR 1984' plaque, is one for the Opening of the bridge:

As one of the photos of the DMR, and Opening Plaque shows, Kinchela Creek is quite a substantial body of water, that while being 'fresh' water is affected by tides.
