Der Venusberg ist ein 176 Meter hohes Hochplateau im Bonner Stadtgebiet. Die Randgebiete und Hänge des Bergs sind bewaldet vom sogenannten Stadtwald. Und genau dort befindet sich das Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal von Bonn.

Ab 1888 entstand auf dem damals noch unbewohnten Venusberg die 49 Hektar große Parkanlage "Kaiserpark" oder "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Park", aus der später der Stadtwald hervorging. Der Berg und Park wurde aus Patriotismus Kaiser Wilhelm I. gewidmet. Zentrales Element des Parks war das Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal, das 1897 anläßlich des 100. Gebutstags des Kaisers eingeweiht wurde.

Gestaltet haben das Denkmal der Bonner Stadtbaumeister Rudolf Schultze und der Kölner Bildhauer Johann Degen. Es ist im neuromanischen Stil aus Sandstein aund Granit gefertigt und beinhaltet ein Bronzeornament, das den Kopf des Kaisers zeigt. Darunter wurden die Worte "DEM GEDÆCHTNIS KAISER WILHELMS I WEIHTE DIESEN HAIN DIE STADT BONN" eingraviert. Im oberen Bereich des Denkmals befindet sich ein Reichsadler mit Schild auf der Brust. Hinter dem Denkmal wurden unterschiedlich hohe Basaltsäulen aufgestellt, die sich zu einer 8 Meter hohen Pyramide zusammensetzen. Daher wird das Denkmal von Ortsansässigen auch "Spargeldenkmal" geannant.

Das Denkmal steht heute unter Denkmalschutz.
The Venusberg is a 176 meter high plateau in the Bonn urban area. The outskirts and slopes of the mountain are wooded by the so-called city forest. And that's exactly where the Emperor Wilhelm Monument of Bonn is located.

From 1888 on the 49-acre park "Kaiserpark" or "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Park" was developed on the then uninhabited Venusberg, from which later the city forest emerged. The mountain and park was dedicated to Kaiser Wilhelm I due to patriotism. The central element of the park was the Emperor Wilhelm Monument, which was inaugurated in 1897 on the occasion of the Emperor's 100th birthday.

The monument has been designed by the Bonn city architect Rudolf Schultze and the Cologne sculptor Johann Degen. It is made in Romanesque style of sandstone aund granite and contains a bronze ornament showing the head of the emperor. Underneath, the words "IN MEMORY OF EMPEROR WILHELM THIS GROVE WAS DEDICATED BY THE CITY OF BONN" were engraved. In the upper part of the monument is an imperial eagle with shield on the chest. Behind the monument, basalt columns of different heights were set up, which form a pyramid of 8 meters height. Therefore, the monument is also known by locals as "asparagus monument".

The monument is now a listed building.
