A brand-spanking new visitor center on the west part of Goldfield, so new that it doesn't show up on Google Maps. It's part of a new rest area for travelers passing through.

I needed a restroom badly and was lucky to have come across a rest area that is also home to a brand new visitor center. It's so new that the grand opening wasn't taking place until the first week of April 2018 (I missed it by a week). In addition to restrooms at this rest area, there are a couple of interpretive displays that highlight the history of Goldfield, once the largest city in Nevada in the early 1900s. The decline of mining claims in the area, a flood and a tragic fire pretty much destroyed this town's future.
The visitor center apparently is operated by volunteers who are also part of the Goldfield Historical Society. They have a great website, check it out:
