This memorial can be found on the South Quay in Douglas Harbour and is inscribed as follows:
'IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO
PERISHED IN THE LOSS OF THE
HERRING FLEET 21ST SEPT. 1787

The Douglas Herring Fishing Fleet foundered within sight of Douglas Harbour with the loss of between 14 - 20 men on the morning of 21st September 1787.
