Spanish-American War Medal of Honor Recipient for action on board the USS Marblehead at Caimanera, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on July 26-27, 1898. He is buried in Saint John Cemetery, Middle Village, NY in Section 25, Range B, Grave 72. He has a Medal of Honor marker at the main flag pole since the cemetery only allows one marker per grave.
