The original court house was built in 1882 with this one replacing it in 1937. In addition to local court proceedings, citizens can conduct business here with the Departments of Housing, Fisheries, Waterways, Births, Deaths & Marriages & Fair Trading.
The Maitland Daily Mercury newspaper (
visit link) reported on 1 February 1936 that the new court house has just been completed, at a cost of £6,500.
