"Bethel began in 1817 as a “preaching point” for the Donegal parish. We were first organized as Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, with thirty-four charter members, in 1879 and our first building was dedicated in 1881. Thanks to the dedication of the church membership, Bethel outgrew that location and celebrated the first service in our current location on June 26, 1966.
We are larger now than we were in 1879, but still have the feel of a small country church serving the areas of Latrobe, Donegal, Ligonier, and Mt. Pleasant in the Laurel Highlands as a member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA."
