Be sure to visit the carved trout in front of the visitor center as it is a BookCrossing Zone. That's where Twice Over Lightly, by Eric Nicol, was released, "with the fishes", on Tuesday, December 21, 2004. The trout which once held the book is likely a bit bigger than every trout you've ever landed. It's 4.5 metres (15 ft.) in length, has a diameter of 1.1 metres (43 in.) and weighs 565 kg (1,132 lbs.) (and was caught on a 15 pound test line, we hear).
The Kamloops Visitor Centre offers a large selection of local tourism pamphlets and maps. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. When travelling to new areas, the Visitor's Centre/Chamber of Commerce is always one of our first stops. Often times, it's there where we discover new and interesting places to visit.
