[FR] Ils se rencontrèrent le soir du 6 novembre 1928 au café La Coupole à Paris, dans le Montparnasse des surréalistes, et leurs destinées se lièrent pendant plus de 40 ans. L'engagement d'Elsa et d'Aragon qu'il fut littéraire, artistique ou politique fut souvent commun. Ils voyagèrent ensemble dans le monde, notamment en Russie, en Espagne, aux Etats Unis, en URSS. Leurs combats politiques furent menés à deux, à travers la résistance ou à travers la Bataille du livre. Leurs œuvres se croisent et se répondent, se prolongent. Ces deux écrivains engagés marquèrent le XXème siècle par leurs écrits et conservèrent le désir de laisser derrière eux l'alliance de leurs livres.
Quand le couple s'installe au Moulin de Villeneuve en 1951, c'est dans le désir d'y trouver un refuge et un lieu d'écriture. Ensemble ils aménagent le parc comme un vaste décor propice à l'inspiration et font le tour des antiquaires pour meubler les pièces du moulin.
On retrouve dans ces lieux l'inspiration de leurs écrits, ce qui en fait un lieu d'histoire et d'émotion.
[EN] They met on the 28th of november 1928, at night time, in a famous café called "La Coupole" located in the "Surréaliste" Montparnasse. They were one of the most famous couple of writers for more than forty years. Elsa and Aragon shared a common commitment for literature, arts and politics. They traveled together around the world, namely in Russia, Spain, the United States and the USSR. They shared political fights, with the French resistance and used literature as a weapon.
Their works are intertwined and extend one another. Both of them expressed their wish to leave behind them the complementarity of their work and left their mark in the 20th century.
When the couple decided to move to the water-mill of Villeneuve in 1951, they were looking for a place of refuge where they could peacefully write. Together they layed out the park as a vast decor, a fertile ground for inspiration. They hunted for antics to furnish the rooms.
In every room, we can find the inspiration for their writings, the genuine character that makes of this residence a place of history and emotion.
