Karsten Solheim began making a putter in his spare time in the 1950s, utilizing scientific principles. In his garage in Redwood City California, he crafted the first putter, called PING because of the unique sound it makes when hitting a golf ball.
Karsten Solheim revolutionized golf with his new designs. Using a PING putter, Julius Boros won the Phoenix Open in 1967. PING putters have won more professional and amateur events than any other putter. His commitment to the sport showed with improved designs, custom fits, and sponsoring of LPGA events. Although Karsten Solheim is no longer alive, his heirs and employees have the same commitment to quality and the sport.
PING has been made in the Phoenix area since 1959 when he moved to the valley. Tours are available Tuesdays and Thursdays. Reservations are required. Tours fill up quickly. Please plan ahead.
