Na jihozápadním nároží ohradní zdi kostela sv. Jakuba Staršího je umístena barokní socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého z doby okolo roku 1730. Sv. Jan Nepomucký drží v obou rukou krucifix, kolem krku má zavešené pallium, jeho telo kryje knežské roucho. V letech 1994 a 2016 probíhaly restaurátorské práce této sochy.

Sv.

On the south-west corner of the fencing wall of the Church of St. Jacob the Elder is located a baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk from around 1730. St. John of Nepomuk holds a crucifix in both hands, hanging pallium around his neck, his body covering the priest's garment. In 1994 and 2016, the restoration work of this statue was carried out.

St. John of Nepomuk was a czech priest, general vicar of Prague capital, born around 1345 in Pomuk (Nepomuk) in Bohemia. In 1393 he fell into disfavor at King Wenceslas IV. because contrary to his intentions to strengthen the royal power, John confirmed the election of a new (independent) abbot in Kladruby. Several church officials were arrested and tortured at the command of the king. John of Nepomuk was tortured most brutally. The king presented to all those who were arrested to sign a public charter that they would be silent about their arrest and torture. The only one who did not sign was John, and on the same day (March 20, 1393) he was tied up and overthrown from the Charles Bridge to the Vltava river.
John of Nepomuk's own beatification took place in 1721. In the examination of John's remains, a soft tissue, proclaimed as a saint's tongue (today's medical science speaks of brain tissues), was discovered in his skull. Eight years later, in 1729, John was canonized.
