Long Description:
In Boston's Dorchester neighborhood is this mural painted on a retaining wall supporting the Mattapan section of the MBTA Red Line crossing over the Neponset River Greenway.

The Neponset River Greenway is a path that is along the Neponset River. This section has been around for some years. However, a section to the west was opened a year ago.

The overpass is about 200 ft east of the access point at the end of Butler Street. and is just south of the Cedar Grove Cemetery. The mural is on the north wall, on the left just after you pass under the tracks.

The mural is a simple design. It shows a scene along the river. A great blue heron is the dominant feature on the extreme left. Below it are water grasses and cattails. To the right is the powerhouse and chimney to the Walter Baker Chocolate Factory, located about a mile west from here. Also shown are other critters such as a muskrat and a raccoon. At the extreme right are the credits to this mural. The length is a bout 50 ft.

This is a somewhat fantastic scene. The powerhouse is not set alone like in the painting but is an integral part of the large complex of the former chocolate factory, which towers over the river.
