[DE] "Die Existenz der St. Veit Kapelle reicht bis in die fränkische Zeit zurück. Vom jetzigen Bau ist der Chor von 1719 und das Kirchenschiff von 1785 (Jahreszahl im Schlussstein über de Eingangstür).
Sie gehörte bis 1939 zur Pfarrei St. Clemens und wurde ab 1939 seelsorgerischer Mittelpunkt eines neuen Pfarrbezirks in Form einer Vikarie. Schon jetzt dachte man an eine Vergrößerung der Kirche aber der 2. Weltkrieg vereitelte den Bau.
Im Januar 1945, als bei Bombenangriffen Mayen stark zerstört wurde, wurden auch das Dach und die Fenster der St. Veit Kapelle zerstört. Heilige Messen fanden in Privathäusern statt.
Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg wuchs die Pfarrei sehr schnell, so dass die Kapelle zu klein wurde. 1953 wurde St. Veit eine eigenständige Pfarrei und bekam die Genehmigung zum Bau eines neuen Gotteshauses. Der Architekt Dominikus Böhm wurde mit der Planung und dem Bau der Kirche betraut, die unmittelbar neben der Kapelle errichtet wurde. Ein Durchgang verbindet beide Kirchen miteinander.
Als große einfache Saalkirche mit 38m Länge, 18m Breite und 14m Höhe wurde die Kirche im Stil der damaligen Zeit erbaut Der erhöhte Altarraum war, wie die gesamte Kirche, fast schmucklos. Schon ein Jahr nach Baubeginn wurde sie eingeweiht.
Erst bei der Renovierung 2002 bekam der weiße Innenanstrich eine künstlerische Bemalung durch Markus Böhm, ein Enkel des ehemaligen Kirchenbauers.
Weitere Gestaltungselemente der Kirche sind das große rechteckige Fenster (D. Böhm) im Altarraum als Schlingenmaßwerk aus Basaltlava, die Tuffplastik (W. Tophinke) an der Chorwand und die Rosette (Derix) in der Westfassade. Sie ist mit ihren 7,30m Durchmesser die größte Rosette zwischen Bonn und Straßburg.
Der 32m hohe Glockenturm wurde neben der Kirche freistehend errichtet. Wegen Baufälligkeit wurde er 1987 gesprengt und 1990 neu aufgebaut."

The 32m high bell tower was erected free-standing next to the church. It was blown up in 1987 because of its fragility and rebuilt in 1990."
