St. James Episcopal Chapel is located on East River road in Grosse Ile, MI on the shores of the Detroit River. The chapel, completed is 1867, is the oldest church on Grosse Ile. It was completed in part with funds provided by a freed slave named Elizabeth Denison who willed her life savings to build the chapel.
