The National Capital Commission (NCC) maintains waypoint signs throughout the Greenbelt, a natural area which surrounds the city of Ottawa. The waypoints mark trail intersections. The signs include geographic co-ordinates and a map of other waypoints.

Hiking east from Haanel Drive (or from parking lot P4), NCC trail #21 splits at this waypoint. Both sections of trail head through an old and interesting cedar forest in what was once known as the south parts of lot 4 and lot 5, concession 2, Ottawa Front, Nepean township. Both sections of trail meet the Greenbelt Pathway, a part of the Trans Canada Trail and the Rideau Trail (2018 routing).
