A statue of Saint Sylvain is placed on the bridge on September 24, 1876, thanks to Father Dorlacq, pastor of the parish.

The popular tradition reports that the saint's body, martyred and thrown into the Vienne at Saint-Junien, came to stop against a pile of the bridge before continuing his path to Loubressac (Mazerolles).

The children were brought to the feet of the saint with nervous diseases. The ritual was that one undresses and that one dresses the child in this place which explains the name "arche of the deflash". Saint Sylvain, also called Saint Biroutin, also had the reputation of curing the sterility of married women.

The women had to go around the statue and depending on the direction of rotation, they were more likely to have a girl or a boy.
