The waste incineration plant Spittelau is one of three thermal waste treatment plants of Wien Energie. Its peculiarity lies in the artistic façade designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. With a total installed capacity of 460 MW, the plant represents the second largest producer in the district heating network of the city of Vienna.
The outer facade of the entire district heating plant was redesigned after a major fire in 1987 by Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
