La croix - Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines - Christian Crosses on Waymarking.com

Réédifié dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle et récemment restauré, le calvaire de "La Croix-du-Bois" est situé en pleine forêt sur les hauteurs du village de Magny-les-Hameaux (78). Le site domine d'une cinquantaine de mètres la vallée et son petit cours d'eau la Mérantaise.

Une carte postale du début du siècle représente la croix tournée vers Magny sur un espace dégagé et depuis gagné par la forêt. Aujourd'hui, l'allée bordée de marronniers qui conduit à la croix semble constituer le seul rempart à la progression effrénée de la végétation, préservant du coup cette magnifique trouée de lumière et offrant ce point de vue vertigineux sur la vallée.
Rebuilt in the second half of the nineteenth century and recently restored, the calvary of "La Croix-du-Bois" is located in the forest on the heights of the village of Magny-les-Hameaux (78). The site dominates about fifty meters the valley and its small stream Mentaise.
