The Physics Building would be about 160 metres long (magnetic east/west), and 100 metres wide (magnetic north/south) [estimated from aerial views]. It is a red/brown brick, four storey building of utilitarian design, with some inner spaces, like a 'figure-8'.

Just east of this stone is a sawn sandstone wall, which incidentally has a copper sculpture on it - "The Falconer", by Tom Bass.

The grey granite Foundation Stone with gilded lettering, reads:

	This stone was set by
	   His Excellency
The Governor of New South Wales
Lieutenant General John Northcott CB, MVO
	 25th February 1950
      The Hon R.J. Heffron MLA
       Minister for Education
		Cobden Parkes
		Government Architect
