Silver Bell was a mining town operating from 1954 into the 1970's. It was a company town for the Silver Bell mine, a copper producer. The mine is actually a conglomeration of a number of older mines as the area has a far older history than the current mine and the abandon community. The cemetery is included in the Ironwood Forest National Monument which was created to protect the mining history of the area. There is one grave which has a tombstone. There are numerous rock circles indicating old graves, some of which have been marked in the past with a simple cross. Most are just overgrown with creosote bushes. The graves are not laid out in any structured manner, nor is there a fence or sign with a name. There are two signs posted by the government asking that the site be left undisturbed.
