This is a large culvert which handles water crossing the intersection of Hiwassee Road and Coffee Creek Road.

Culverts come in all sizes. This one crosses the intersection from northeast to southwest and has an opening of about 5 ft. by 7 ft. The north end is quite exposed and has no foliage surrounding it. The south end, however, is lost in a jungle to undergrowth. The evidence of a creek can be seen south of the culvert, however, leading into it is just a roadside ditch and flat farmland.
A WPA shield stamped into the concrete curbing reads 1936. It would have been possible to walk right through this culvert (see gallery)......but we didn't.
