Le réseau express régional d'Île-de-France, couramment appelé RER en France, est un réseau au gabarit ferroviaire de transport en commun desservant Paris et son agglomération, faisant partiellement partie du réseau régional dénommé Transilien. Constitué de cinq lignes, il comporte 249 points d'arrêt pour 587 km de voies (dont 76,5 km en souterrain, situées pour l'essentiel dans Paris intra-muros) et est fréquenté par 2,7 millions de voyageurs par jour (dont plus d'un million sur la seule ligne du RER A). Pour des raisons historiques, une partie du réseau est gérée par la RATP tandis que le reste fait partie du réseau SNCF.
L'essentiel de la partie centrale du réseau a été le fruit d'un effort massif d'ingénierie civile et de financement entre 1962 et 1977, date officielle de l'inauguration du réseau. Elle comprend des stations plus profondes et plus spacieuses que celles du métro.
La gare de Port-Royal est une gare ferroviaire française de la ligne de Sceaux, située dans le 5e arrondissement de Paris, en limite des 6e et 14e arrondissements.
C'est une gare de la Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP) desservie par les trains de la ligne B du RER.
La gare est construite en 1895 par la Compagnie du Paris-Orléans lors du prolongement de la ligne de Sceaux de la gare de Denfert-Rochereau à celle de Luxembourg. Cette gare diffère des autres gares de la ligne par son style architectural : elle est la première à être disposée à cheval sur les voies, grâce à l'installation d'une passerelle métallique. Cette disposition particulière s'explique par le manque de place disponible. Le bâtiment a conservé son aspect originel avec ses quais protégés par des marquises vitrées. Les extrémités des quais ont été transformées pour pouvoir recevoir des trains plus longs.
En 1944, une réserve clandestine de 550 rails entreposée à la gare de Port-Royal, à l'extrémité des quais côté Luxembourg, a permis de rétablir les voies après les bombardements de Massy - Palaiseau.
Le 3 décembre 1996 la gare est touchée par un attentat à la bombe, qui fait 4 morts et 170 blessés.
La gare est desservie par les lignes 38, 83 et 91 du réseau de bus RATP, par la ligne à vocation touristique OpenTour et, la nuit, par les lignes N01, N02, N14, N21 et N122 du réseau de bus Noctilien.
En 2015, la fréquentation annuelle estimée par la RATP est de 3 361 591 voyageurs.

The Île-de-France regional express network, commonly known as the RER in France, is a network with a rail transit gauge serving Paris and its suburbs, part of the regional network called Transilien. Made up of five lines, it has 249 stopping points for 587 km of tracks (including 76.5 km underground, mostly located in Paris intramural) and is frequented by 2.7 million passengers per day ( of which more than one million on the RER A line alone). For historical reasons, part of the network is managed by RATP while the rest is part of the SNCF network.
Most of the central part of the network was the result of a massive civil engineering and financing effort between 1962 and 1977, the official date of the inauguration of the network. It includes stations deeper and more spacious than those of the subway.
The Port-Royal station is a French railway station on the Sceaux line, located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, bordering the 6th and 14th arrondissements.
It is a station of the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) served by the trains of the line B of the RER.
The station was built in 1895 by the Paris-Orléans Company during the extension of the Sceaux line from Denfert-Rochereau station to that of Luxembourg. This particular provision is explained by the lack of available space. The building has retained its original appearance with its quays protected by glass awnings. The ends of the wharves have been transformed to accommodate longer trains.
In 1944, a 550 - strong underground reserve stored at the Port - Royal station at the end of the wharves on the Luxembourg side restored the tracks after Massy - Palaiseau bombing.
On December 3, 1996 the station was hit by a bomb attack, which left four dead and 170 wounded.
