The river Dyje exposed its unique model rock walls when digging its valley. There is remnants of the dramatic geological history of Earth on the vertical wall. Due to the alternation of layers of color-coded rocks, there are very well-seen wrinkles from tiny size about in centimeters to a monumental arc of 30m span that is better visible from the opposite embankment.

The rock massif of the Hamers' wrinkles is made up of the "Bítešské" orthogneiss. Her age is probably pre-Palaeozoic (795 million years). Differently powerful layers of orthogneiss are alternated with frequent dark amphibolite and gneiss with eg quartz veins. Other predominant minerals are plagioclases (sodium-calcium feldspar), microcline (potassium feldspar), biotite (dark mica) and amphibol. We can also find muscovites (light mica) and sericit.

Thanks to the prevailing southern orientation of the slopes of the whole rock massif, there is an island of thermophilous vegetation in the coldest part of the national park. On rocky terraces are frequent lawns with "mochna písecná" (Potentilla arenaria), in the spring a bright yellow garland of "tarice skalní" (Aurinia saxatilis). In the lichens, a typical "hnedenka pohárková" (Fuscidea cyathoides) or pea green "mapovník zemepisný" (Rhizocarpon geographicum) can be found for the Podyjí. In lawns the abundant "Koniklec Velkokvetý" (Pulsatilla grandis) and "Krucinka chlupatá" (Genista pilosa). The green lizard is often here, the spine with the zigzag line is definitely not a viper, but grass snake (Coronella austriaca). From the forest stands, the unpopular acacia is spreading to the deeper soil. Therefore, steppe lawns must be maintained by regular tree removal.

Reka Dyje pri hloubení svého údolí obnažila unikátne modelované skalní steny. Na svislé stene zustaly zvecnené stopy dramatické geologické historie Zeme. Díky strídání vrstev barevne odlišených hornin jsou zde velmi dobre patrné vrásy od drobného krajkoví centimetrových rozmeru až po monumentální oblouk o tricetimetrovém rozpetí, který je lépe viditelný z protejšího brehu.

Skalní masiv Hamerských vrás je tvoren bítešskou ortorulou. Její stárí je nejspíše predprvohorní (795 mil. let). Ruzne mocné vrstvy ortoruly jsou strídány krom castého tmavého amfibolitu a pararul také napr. žilami kremene. Dalšími prevládajícími minerály jsou plagioklasy (sodno-vápenaté živce), mikroklin (draselný živec), biotit (tmavá slída) a amfibol. Lze nalézt i muskovit (svetlou slídu) a sericit.

Díky prevažující jižní orientaci svahu celého skalního masivu zde vznikl ostruvek teplomilné vegetace v nejchladnejší západní cásti území národního parku. Na skalních terasách je castá trávnicka prodloužená ci mochna písecná, zjara pak zárive žluté girlandy tarice skalní. V lišejníkových porostech lze nalézt pro Podyjí typickou hnedenku pohárkovou nebo hráškove zelený mapovník zemepisný. V travnatých plochách je hojný koniklec velkokvetý a krucinka chlupatá. Porostem se casto mihne ješterka zelená, hrbet s klikatou cárou rozhodne nepatrí zmiji, nýbrž užovce hladké. Z lesních porostu se na místa s hlubší pudou šírí nežádoucí trnovník akát. Proto je nutno stepní trávníky udržovat pravidelným odstranováním drevin.
