This is the first sculpture that has been designed for the 'Art on the Trail' project at East Midlands Airport. The designs shown on the stepping stones were decided by students from local primary schools during a number of workshops with the artist. The students were asked to create models of flight images using clay. The schools involved in the project were:
• Orchard Primary School, Castle Donington
• St Edward's Primary School, Castle Donington
• Kegworth Primary School
• Diseworth Primary School

"Graeme Mitcheson has been creating stone sculpture since graduating from Loughborough College of Art in 1995. He undertakes a wide variety of work including major public art sculpture, smaller private commissions, memorials and lettercutting work. Graeme has work sited in the public realm all over the UK including sculptures in Belfast, Northumberland, North and South wales. Graeme also runs stone carving courses and workshops in schools."
